What all world wind these last two weeks have been. With the release of the book which has been received exceptionally well by the public to date and having an exciting adventure down in Florida the last two weeks has been exciting, to say the least.
First of all, I want to thank everyone that has purchased the book a big thank you for your support and kind words. Jack Olmstead from Portland Washington and Mickey Collins from Kansas City have been more than amazing and helping spread the word. But with all of that Florida was amazing. Meeting up with almost 200 ambassadors from all over the country was a spectacular event put on by the USAPA ambassador organization. From pickleball play to conferences concerning legality of the sport, refereeing, media promotions, and upcoming teaching certifications, there was something for everyone. We had a chance of to experiment and try out several different vendor paddles including Gamma Sports, Franklin sports, Selkirk, Onix, and Engage pickleball. The vendors were amazingly and let us try any paddle we wished during the week. Many ambassadors including myself were able to purchase and take home a few paddles. A big shot out to the Tahoe Gals whose company during the two weeks was crazy fun. As most of you may know we met a year ago at the first ambassador retreat and have become fast friends since then. What an amazing group of women who come from all parts of the country and share the same passion for the game of pickleball. Some of the pickleball play activities at the retreat included a new team concept play which was a bit confusing at first because we did not understand the rules. Teams definitely needed a coach on the sideline to strategically place players in the lineup and substitute them out accordingly. The basic concept included six players on a team. As each team scores points, so does the player who served the point themselves. Players can only accumulate two points and then they are done for the game. So, the strategy is to place your strong players in positions to score when needed and save them for the end of the game as well to have the best chance to win. Needless to say, we were all a bit confused at first and we still managed to have fun in any case. It's a good concept, you just need to pay attention to the rules. I love team concept play in any case. It brings more people into the action and gives a new twist to a great activity. If you have a TEAM game you would like to share please send me details and or a video to me @ pickleballcpr@gmail.com and I'll post it. Until next time Be well, Stay Active and Play more Pickleball. Things have been so exciting and I am so grateful to those who have been a part of this new adventure. I can't thank you enough. This week has been a whirlwind of activity trying to get ready for the Ambassador Retreat, give those last few lessons, work on the home front, get the book advertised, interview, build a FB page and then send out those orders. THANKS by the way. I hope you put those drills to good use.
So this week I found a new friend in the pickleball world in Jack Olmstead from Port Townsend WA. He has a Facebook page and as well a news show that features up and coming pickleball players, enthusiasts, coaches and authors like myself and so much more. You can find him on FB @: Port Townsend Pickleball He recently had Mary Solomon my editor and me on a live chat using the Google Hangouts Live. It was a new adventure for both Mary and I as we were both unfamiliar with what to do. We didn't even think we could fill an hour of talk. BUT, to our surprise, it went quickly. You can see the interview at: Interview with Claudia I was a bit nervous and not familiar with the Tech stuff but got the hang of it. I was cracking up later after when I watched it. I said 'drinking' instead of 'dinking' in one spot. See if you can pick it up. LOL I really enjoyed sharing the quick PowerPoint presentation I put together. I plan on fixing that up and getting that on the site. I hope to explain the book and the GRIDS to assist those who may have questions. Anyway. THANKS again Jack. Hope to reach our goal and get others on the path to DRILLING the CPR way. Till next time. BW, SA, PMP.. Thank you Jane and Julie for setting up this amazing day. Had the pleasure to share the book with friends and players who frequent the courts here in Independence. I'm blessed to have this opportunity. We did find out the website was down for about an hour so those of you who may have been trying to download? PLEASE try again. For some reason the occurrence put a kink into the download process. I believe we are set to go now. What a scare.
Again can't thank you all enough for your support and well wishes. If it wasn't for you pickleball wouldn't be growing here on the North Coast. Let me know what you think and give me some feed back. I'll be glad to explain what the "CODE" breaker is all about. Not the difficult just a technique to teach. Be well and stay active everyone.. We are going to try to do video sessions soon. YIKES! I'm not a great camera person but I guess I have to join the crowd to get the news out there. I can't stop sometimes. I see the action or am playing in the action and POP.. there comes another drill. I love it!. I have to run and put it down on paper or record it on the phone to remember it. Sometimes it's a curse but I love it. Especially when the group I'm drilling is working at the drill and they give positive feed back. You go to love that. Anyway. Check out the Basic Drills for the 3 Balls In.. Fast paced and keeps you on your toes.
